The battle against goblinkind continues . . . but which side will Teagan be on? Teagan, Finn, and Aiden have made it out of Mag Mell alive, but the Dark Man's forces are hot on their heels. Back in Chicago, Tea's goblin cousins show up at her school, sure she will come back to Mag Mell, as goblin blood is never passive once awoken. Soon she will belong to Fear Doirich and join them. In the meantime, they are happy to entertain themselves by trying to seduce, kidnap, or kill Tea's family and friends. Tea knows she doesn't have much time left, and she refuses to leave Finn or her family to be tortured and killed. A wild Stormrider, born to rule and reign, is growing stronger inside her. But as long as she can hold on, she's still Teagan Wylltson, who plans to be a veterinarian and who heals the sick and hurting. The disease that's destroying her—that's destroying them all—has a name: Fear Doirich. And Teagan Wylltson is not going to let him win.

The Wylltsons have barely escaped from the underworld of Mag Mell only to face a new threat to 5-year-old Aiden and to Teagan herself in this fantasy sequel to Tyger, Tyger (2010).
Faced with still more creatures who threaten and command, Teagan and "sexy beast" Finn (so called by Teagan's admiring co-worker), the not-quite "cousin" whose arrival set off the events of the first book, decide to take action on their own. Characters carry over from the opening episode, extending the humor and charm of that novel, while the introduction of several new characters—readers first meet the wily and manipulative Queen Mab, for instance—add interest to the plot and promise of the vigorous action to come. Hamilton is a wizard at creating tension, building on characters' strengths and weaknesses until the plot really takes off. The neighborhood and forest behind the library, where they leave the Chicago streets to enter Mag Mell (loosely based on Irish folklore), are described in detail and convey a feeling of familiarity. The straightforwardness of the story and spurts of humor arising from situations and characters will sustain readers' interest and keep them involved.
Teagan has a plan for what comes next; fans will have a hard time waiting for her to bring it on. (Urban fantasy. 14-18)

Gr 8 Up-In this sequel to Tyger, Tyger (Clarion, 2010), Teagan and her friends must cope with the aftermath of escaping from the Dark Man's forces as well as new dangers. As she picks up the pieces of her life, Teagan begins a tentative relationship with goblin hunter Finn and struggles with her newly revealed goblin heritage. Though her Highborn goblin blood should call her to a life of darkness and violence, she wants to go to veterinary school and care for sick and abused animals. Meanwhile, the evil Fear Doirich is sending his agents from Mag Mell into the human world to tempt and torment her, and the plucky teen must fight to protect her loved ones. The rich melding of Irish folklore and fantasy is helped along by a charming (if somewhat overpopulated) cast and an easy, unforced spirituality, and fans of the first book will welcome the new adventures and fresh revelations in this installment.-Christi Esterle, Parker Library, CO
