      The next chapter in the popular Halo series, which is based on a video game, relates the voyages of a star cruiser led by Captain Keyes as it lands on a mysterious planet. Without the sound effects or background soundtrack that have become the standard in modern sci-fi productions such as the Doctor Who series and the revisited L. Ron Hubbard serials, this production falls flat from the start. Narrator Todd McLaren gives a mediocre reading that is below his usual standards. He sounds bored and withdrawn.
