Wake Up Happy
The Dream Big, Win Big Guide to Transforming Your Life
From the beloved cohost of Good Morning America, NFL Hall of Fame member and Super Bowl champion Michael Strahan comes a motivational guide to tackle each day from the moment you get out of bed.
Pulling from his own life experiences, Michael Strahan details the mix of mental discipline, positive thinking, and sense of play that lead him to a Super Bowl XLII victory as a member of the New York Giants, and later to star alongside Kelly Ripa in the hit daytime talk show Live! with Kelly and Michael. Each of these "Strahan Rules" will guide you step-by-step through developing a work ethic and mental durability that will prime you to achieve your goals and transform your life.
Delivered with his signature wit and wisdom, Strahan's Rules combine a range of advice, from values he picked up from his father who served in the military to professors who teach on the science of happiness and include:
-Rule #5: Too many of us count ourselves out before we even give ourselves a chance...Do the work. Be excellent. You'll find your place.
-Rule #11: You can't change other people, but you can change how you are around them, and sometimes, a lot of times, that's more than enough.
-Rule #12: Listen to other people, but don't take their opinions for fact. Have your own experiences. Draw your own conclusions.
Whether you are attempting to achieve your career goals, seeking to better your relationships or simply up your optimism quotient, Wake Up Happy will inspire you.

This celebrity motivational audio works on a number of levels. The retired football star and TV personality is a good-enough reader to sound spontaneous and sincere. He has a unique background--he was raised in Germany by a stern but supportive military father and screwball mother--and these factors take his backstory out of American jock culture and into a broader realm--the realm of humble and well-grounded achievers with something to say about the well-lived life. Strahan's advice covers a lot of ground, and along the way he references social science experts, coaches, and people who helped him master the art of television stardom. But with his audible humility and humanitarian sensibilities, his message has heart and sounds coherent. His stories and memorable insights--"Strahan's Rules"--will inspire more optimism and better career/work habits in anyone who hears them. T.W. 2016 Audies Winner © AudioFile 2016, Portland, Maine -

Former New York Giants football star and current TV host Strahan, with support from writer Chambers, goes beyond psychobabble in this practical pep talk about creating a winning attitude to solve “the puzzle of life” and achieve any goal. Strahan, the youngest of six children, was raised on a German army base, where he learned his family’s values of pride, hard work, and problem solving. He employed these effectively to stand out from the football squad at Texas Southern University before being drafted by the Giants in 1993. His upbeat message sounds a bit familiar, but he throws off the celebrity image when he praises fatherhood, responsibility, achievement, paying attention to detail, mental toughness, and “just showing up for life.” Strahan, a truly nice guy, never dishes the dirt on his former teammates, cohost Kelly Ripa, or his ex-wives, avoiding anything resembling “tabloid fodder.” His comments about motivation are not the stale Dale Carnegie variety, but instead new and updated streamlined solutions for a hectic modern world. Agent: Eric Simonoff, WME.
