The rotund, acerbic grower of rare orchids, Nero Wolfe, and his sidekick, Archie Goodwin, are private investigators who are very good at what they do (and who set their fees accordingly). Here they take on the case of a beautiful young lady searching for the father she never knew. Michael Prichard's masterful reading strikes just the right note as he showcases Wolfe's discriminating tastes and basic goodness and captures Archie's New York cockiness and deep sense of decency. It's a tribute to both Stout and Prichard that this audiobook is still fresh today. L.C. (c) AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine
